Biography
Christian Gonzales y
Herrera, was born in Venice-Italy august 14
1963, is 6 dan, Shotokan karate-do Master,
Regional Veneto Person in charge for
Shotokan style FIJLKAM-WKF and member of the
italian Dan examination committee AICS-IOC.
He started the practice in 1971; his first
Master was Bruno De Michelis and under his
guide he earned his black belt first dan at
the age of 11. At the age of 13 won his
first Italian National Kata Championship and

At this point he became

according with the new Master decided to
sent him in Japan for a very long and hard
training period with few of the best Masters
and competitors of the world of that period
So, at the age of 15, he
was sent in Japan for 8 months. Based in
Kyushu, he travelled in lots of part of the
country including the famous centre of
J.K.A. ( Japan Karate Association) located
in Tokyo. He was guest of Master Oishi (

When he came back, under the
guide of Master Shirai, he started his long
national and international activity as kata and
kumite competitor winning, until the age of 31:
- 12 medals at the Italian Championships
(between kata and kumite ). - 8 kata medals at
the European Championship. - 2th at the World
Cup, in Hungary, as member of Italy team kata, among his
teammates there were Carlo Fugazza, Dario
Marchini, Alessandro Cardinale, Pasquale Acri,
Guazzaroni brothers( one of them now is one of
the National Italian kumite coaches), Massimo
Di Luigi, Pino Sacchi, Gennaro Talarico just
to say only few of them.
At the age of sixteen, he started
teaching in his father gym, showing a good
attitude in teaching too. His motto has been
til the beginning: “…. I teach only what I
proved was good first on me….”. In this way,
first successes, as coach, didn’t came late.
His pupils began winning very easy
competition, then he moved to more demanding
ones like nationals and finally
international and worldwide
competitions.
At the age of
19 he had his first pupil with the black belt
degree.

As you can
see on the “ Victories section as coach” he
won a huge amount of Italian, European and
world titles as kata and kumite coach. At the age of 46,
after a break of 15 years, he decided to go back
to competition and has just won
the silver medal at the 2010 USA open “ Master”
category and the AICS Master Italian
Championships at the end of april 2010.
